Prologue
The Harun Ghani Education Fund was set up in memory of a good man; a man who spent much of his life helping others. First as a teacher then after having entered political office, he was a dedicated advocate who worked tirelessly to help drug addicts return to society as well as saving families by counseling addicts and their loved ones.

The fund supports children whose parents are in prison or are former drug offenders. This financial support will ensure they have access to education and opportunities for a better future.

Since its inception in 2005, HGEF has disbursed over $780,000 to motivate and assist the educational aspirations of vulnerable children, reflecting Harun Ghani’s enduring commitment to educate the young to stay away from drugs and crime.

HGEF’s mission is to nurture resilient children who, despite their circumstances can Rebuild Lives Through Education.

Children's Trauma
Children of drug offenders often struggle alone. They face the repercussions of their parents’ actions in silence. The trauma of witnessing a parents’ arrest stays with a child forever. In that instant, everything in their life changes. The child not only loses a parent; they are removed from a familiar environment and distanced from friends when they are put in a caregiver’s home. When forced to adapt to a new life, the child wonders when they will get to see their parents again. Children whose parents are incarcerated will require more financial and emotional support.
About HGEF | Donate

"I should especially mention the late Cikgu Harun Ghani. He made this his personal mission, and put his heart and soul into this fight. His total commitment and deep sincerity moved many drug addicts to turn over a new leaf, and contribute greatly to the ultimate success... I am sure you will agree with me that Cikgu Harun should become an example to inspire a new generation of activists, to commit themselves to uplift their community and country."

Our Projects
Aside from financial assistance, HGEF works quietly on the ground to provide avenues for the children and their families to receive educational support to the highest possible level. We offer career mentorship through regular motivational workshops as well as outreach programs. Education to us, is not just about the school books. We also focus on teaching these disadvantaged children important life skills that can benefit them throughout their lives.
